WELCOME TO MIAMI. PT.1

When autumn settles in NYC and winter is right around the corner, I know it’s time to head to Miami. I LOVE MIAMI and I’m fortunate that work has me fly south every month for the winter season. I’m not on full snow bird status but I’m working on it. I was in Miami last week which hosted Art Basel and a slew of other art exhibitions throughout the Miami area including Design Miami, Pulse and Untitled. I had a tight schedule filled w/ trunk shows, trainings & hosting luncheons from Naples to Palm Beach to Miami so I didn’t have much time to cover all the shows. I was lucky enough to be invited by a good friend, Tofer Chin to preview his work at Untitled. Below are a few photos of his exceptional work along with other galleries and artists that caught my eye. Stay tuned my last day coverage of Art Basel  which I did in an impressive 1.5 hour/s, not something I’m proud of.

NYFW Tim Coppens S/S 13

I wanted to share some images from NYFW S/S 13 starting w/ Tim Coppens. I discovered this collection at Barneys NY last season & became a fan instantly. His Spring ’12 launch collection sold me on fabrication alone but details such as elasticated cuffs on shirting, linen/leather combos on blouson jackets & parkas done in paper weight leather had me googling images of the rest of his collection w/ a quickness. I wasn’t surprised to find that he’s a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (Dries Van Noten, Demeulemeester and Van Asche are alumni) due to the highly impressive construction. He served as the design director for RLX from 2008-2011 before starting his eponymous label.
